Why can't I do that?
So I feel like I am completely missing out; I have never ever once in my entire life been able to sleep in a class. I watch people in lectures here and they are out cold but not me; I sit there bored out of my mind yet I am unable to let my eyes close and drift off into happy land.
Today's lecture was less than stellar and in all honesty, I don't remember much from it.
I have realized that one of the 20 year old assistants here strongly resembles and acts like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons, so everytime I see him I expect him to drum his fingers together in an evil fashion and mutter, 'excellent'. We have taken to incorporating the term every time we speak with him. It makes us laugh, but I am sure he thinks we are nuts ( as most people do)
From the moment I woke up today I was dreading one thing and one thing only, Willy Wonka's seminar today. Surprisingly, it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. We spent quite a bit of time today talking about social issues in the former Communist countries. I even heard a joke repeated a few times. Somehow we got on the subject of British food and mushy peas came up. If you have not had the chance to experience this delicacy, you must make a trip across the pond ASAP. As my partner in crime found in Ireland they are something you will never ever forget. Or if you want to save on travel expenses, go to the grocery store, buy some Gerber peas baby food, heat it up a bit and viola, mushy peas. As a sidenote, even though it was cooler today , the room our seminar is held in still reeks of nastiness if you leave and come back... grrross! And we get to marinate in the stench for 2 hours at a time. Ding... I'm done!
I havehave vowwed to myself to not read HP VI until the plane ride home and it is killing me! I know it is there under my bed, just waiting for me, calling my name... 'Alison.... Alison, you know you want to read me. Just one chapter come on!' I will take on Nancy Regan's slogan from the anti drug campaign of the 80's and Just Say No! ( Do you remember the really 'cool' song that went along with that ad?)
Dinner was yet again another adventure- Spaghetti, with tons of meat sauce. The little garlic rolls were a bit overdone but, it is way better than the cold chicken, ranch sauce and bits of lettuce from last week!
Other than that the countdown to head west is on. I am torn though, going home means, hot weather and going back to work...Maybe I should stay. I hear maids make good money here! £7 an hour!
Ciao!
